MATCH REPORT: Beaumaris 1-2 Altona City

Beauy’s difficult start to their 2024 VPL season continued with a disappointing loss  unbeaten Altona. The team started well and had a great chance to take the lead when a penalty was given for a push , but Johnny Creamer’s spot kick hit the foot of the post and bounced away.

Beauy eventually took the  lead on 25 minutes with a goal from Sean Grella who darted onto a great ball from skipper Danny Brooks to lift his shot over the keeper and into the net. Beauy played solidly and had other chances, but allowed Altona back into the game just before the break to go into half time level at 1-1.

In the second half the play was generally even until a miscued cross from Altona’s winger drifted over keeper, Luc Evans and into the far corner to put the home side behind.

Although dominating possession, Beauy could not find a goal and slipped to another defeat.

With the lower end of the VPL 2 table congested upcoming games  with Doveton and Goulburn Valley will be vital.
