WOW!!
There have been many great achievements at Beaumaris Soccer Club during the twenty-plus years I have been associated with.
14 years ago our President Joe Mottola asked former South Melbourne National Soccer League goalkeeper Bruce McLaren to build a plan to have a “successful” senior team playing at a level that would provide a clear development path for our many talented junior players coming through our ranks. The aim was to get to State League One with the ultimate target being to achieve NPL (National Premier League) status. Well, after 14 years we finally did it on Saturday when we won our last game of the season against promotion candidates Mornington to win State League 1. Next year Beaumaris will play in the NPL providing your businesses with even greater exposure in our community.
The playing group, coaching staff & all the support crew deserve praise for their commitment & belief & of course the amazing on-field performances that have made history for Beaumaris SC. We have worked hard to ensure the senior men’s team is made up of good characters who are prepared to buy into the club’s culture & represent our values and engage with our junior boys and girls program. This has been achieved led by young and talented senior coach David Gibson (pictured below receiving a hug from his younger brother) who has been at Beaumaris since the age of 5, playing through our junior ranks and for many years in our senior team, several of those years as Club Captain. He embodies the spirit we try to develop at Beaumaris SC and magnificently represents the values we continue to uphold.
There are also many amazing volunteers many of whom are known as Beaumaris "personalities” who do this for the love of the club and community they belong to. They are all super excited as to what’s ahead and are very deserving of recognition as the club could not function without them.
But this moment is about so much more. Our progress has been steady & gradual, we have a stable Committee that has worked tirelessly to build the culture and environment that our members deserve culminating in the amazing new club rooms we now enjoy as well as the wonderful relationship we have with MCC at the state of the art sports facility at Beaumaris Secondary College. On the playing side we have sought continual improvement in our junior program with our “Shiver” Football Development Program being well received and our women’s & girls football program being the fastest growing part of the club. Our Committee is dedicated to bring equal male and female playing numbers to the Club by 2025 increasing our membership to 700 from the existing 550 players from aged 7 to 58. The status of our senior men’s team is integral to influencing and attracting the best young players in Bayside and with Saturday’s game played in front of over a 1000 people at the Beaumaris Reserve (with some people flying in from interstate to see the game) interest is strong and growing. On Sunday our female teams State 4 and 5 teams both won their games to be virtually assured of promotion to a higher division.
Our club could never have achieved this success without your great support and financial contribution. Be assured that everything you contribute is greatly appreciated and whilst the lockdowns caused by the pandemic has limited our ability to interact in the last two years it has been fantastic to see you and your staff at the ground this season to experience the culture & environment we all cherish and I am certain that you have come to enjoy. Our aim is for you to enjoy engaging with all of our people and to give your business as much exposure as we can locally.
THANK YOU hardly seems enough but be assured your support is never taken for granted. The recent years have been tough and no doubt there are challenges ahead but for now thank you and please share this appreciation with your teams
Go Beauy!
