Match Report: Beaumaris 2-1 Box Hill United

Beauy returned to the winner's list with a hard fought win over Box Hill United at the Reserve on Saturday afternoon.

With multiple club sponsors in attendance for the first sponsors day of the season, and a full suite of miniroos games from 0900, it was a busy day for President, Joe Mottola and his crew in the kitchen!

On the pitch, Beauy started brightly, with Zach Lemke moving into a front role in place of the absent Ryan Brown and Felix Polster. ‘AK ‘ Singh was back from suspension and keen to make up for missing the prior week.

After a corner the ref awarded a penalty to Beauy and Jason Dunphy coolly slotted home to give the hosts the lead. A second penalty was awarded only minutes later and with Dunphy replaced by Singh as the taker, was this time unsuccessful!

Singh’s strike was pushed out by the keeper and a last ditch tackle prevented ‘AK’ forcing home the rebound.

Half time Beauy 1-0 up

The second half again started well, with Lemke’s energy in pressing the keeper and defence of Box Hill paying dividends as his challenge on the keeper caused the ball to come out to Singh, who slotted into the corner.

With a two goal cushion, Beauy should have been able to finish the game untroubled, but with twenty minutes to go a bouncing long ball caused confusion between our keeper , Jarrod Hill and his defence and the ball crept into the net. 2-1!

Beauy held on but not without some nervy moments, to gain their third win to give them 11 points from 7 games in their inaugural NPL season.
