Beaumaris 3-1 Knox City
The State League 1 squad continued their pre-season campaign with a hit out against State 2 Knox City last Sunday. On a warm day, both squads started with their strongest line ups and made multiple changes as the game progressed.
Knox came out of the blocks quickly and Beauy were perhaps lucky to survive a couple of good chances for the opposition. The home team settled and began to play some decent football and took the lead through Ryan Brown after some 30 minutes. George Smethurst extended the gap with a delightful left-foot shot to send Beauy into the half time break, two to the good.
Sam Mack extended the lead early in the second half and Brown had another close-range effort saved before the game became more end to end towards the closing stages
Knox scored a consolation from a free-kick with the last kick of the game.
Beauy entertains Albion Rovers next weekend before they enter the FFA Cup and the State League season starts at home against Mazenod at 7.30pm on Saturday 20 March at Beaumaris College.
Reserves drew 3-3 in a lively clash also against Knox
