Last week we were selected as the Hyundai Goals For Grassroots recipient club for Round 21 of the 2019/2020 Hyundai A-League.
We received a $1,000 donation PLUS... an additional $1,000 for every goal that Melbourne Victory scored against Adelaide United at Saturday’s home match at Marvel Stadium.
Well.. the boys did us proud with their brilliant 2-1 victory, which saw us take home an outstanding oversize novelty cheque for $3,000!!
“These Hyundai Goals for Grassroots funds will go a long way to ensuring that we can expand our facility to offer an additional coach and much needed equipment to service a junior team. Money is tight and kids tend to lose balls in some of the lovely scrub around our club. Despite best efforts to recover these, it's not always possible. As the season progresses, teams share equipment and it is sometimes a stretch to see out the season. The extra funds will allow us to purchase a small supply of spare balls for training and the services of an extra coach to assist with our free girls clinics- an initiative we are committed to as we try to increase female participation in soccer at our club.” - Heather Kristiansson
