Beaumaris 3-0 Eltham Redbacks

Beauy’s march up the ladder continued with a very solid 3-0 home win against mid-table Eltham at a well-attended game at Reserve Rd.

With the game as a catch-up, there was great interest around the State League 1 clubs to see if Beauy could continue their rise up the table. With only 2 fixtures taking place, representatives from Boorandara, Malvern and Casey were all on hand to see the game in sunny and still conditions.

Our team started strongly and had a number of chances in the opening twenty minutes, but there was a tense atmosphere with 3 points vital to get Beauy into the promotion spots. Striker, Felix Polster has had an interrupted season, but looked sharp, and troubled the Redbacks defence with his pace and strength, and on 30 minutes he combined well with Ryan Brown to strike home from an acute angle. Half time came with Beauy in front.

The second half was much of the same with Beauy dominant, but everyone knew that dominance needs to turn into goals, and Polster delivered again after 70 minutes finishing well with his right foot to give a two-goal lead. Substitute Tom Collaci grabbed a third with minutes left and the game ended with a solid home win.

With 2 games to go, both at home, Beauy moved into 2nd spot and promotion to NPL3 is now there for the taking.

Come along and see our next two games at Reserve Rd, on 13 and 20 August against Mazenod and Mornington respectively!!

Reserves drew 1-1, but should have grabbed all 3 points with an excellent display.
