Beaumaris 1 - 3 Richmond

Seniors Beaumaris 1 - 3 Richmond

After an impeccably observed tribute to the Anzac’s, lead by President Joe Mottola, Beauy went down to a second consecutive home defeat at the hands of Richmond on Anzac Day eve at the Secondary College.

A disastrous first 3 minutes saw Beauy concede 2 early goals, before coming out of their slumber and getting on the front foot for the rest of the half. Centre back George Whiteoak was subbed off inside the first 15 minutes, heading to Sandy hospital after a head knock.

The second half started again with Beauy doing much of the attacking but Richmond looking dangerous on the break. The visitors extended their lead after 55 minutes when a shot from distance got under the keeper, Jarrod Hill’s body.

The home side continued pressing and Ryan Brown got one back before Beauy was awarded a penalty with 20 minutes left. Brown’s spot kick was saved and a second chance somehow did not go in for Zach Lemke, and although Beauy continued to press, they were unable to find another goal.

Drama ensued at the end of the game with centre-back, Marinos Panayi staying down after a challenge. After initial first aid on the ground for a head injury, paramedics were called and ‘ Pana’ was taken to hospital where he remained overnight, before being released early on Sunday.

George Whiteoak also headed home after a trip to Sandy hospital.

Reserves got back to winning ways with a 2-1 win over Richmond. More to come.
