Jim Blower,

BSC Vice President 1999-2002, committee member 1996-1999.Committee kit and equipment officer 1996; coach of U10s from 1993 to when they played U18s, Head of Coaching 1999-2001; coached Vets for 2 seasons 2001- 2002 when team finished runner up on both occasions, player for Vets 1996-1999.

Jim made 6 pairs of goal posts for the club which were used up until 2014 donated free of charge (he is a blacksmith).

His 2 boys and 1 daughter all played for BSC, 1 son being a Senior regular from aged 17-24. The family relocated to Byron Bay in 2007 and Jim has since coached Bangalow in the NNSW League.

Jim’s biggest contribution was in introducing as policy that al volunteer coaches should acquire their coaching credentials, funded by BSC, which attracted players and parents to coaching and ensured BSC’s standards were high. This policy earned the praise of Ernie Merrick, himself a BSC Junior Coach who commented as a VSF representative for coaching that BSC had the highest proportion of qualified coaches of any junior club in Victoria and was a role model for others.

His enthusiasm for the club extended to his elderly parents “Big Jim” who cleaned the pavilion every weekend after match day and Doris who helped in the canteen
