Hi all,

Very good effort today. Probably THE most frustrating game of the entire season so far. The difference between the quality of the two teams on the pitch was unbelievable but unfortunately the scoreboard didn’t quite agree with that, 3-3 at full time.

I always say that the score doesn’t matter, what matters is how we play. However, I believe that our extreme domination should’ve resulted in a win today. Some very nice passing from all players on the pitch. I saw 1-2s, through balls, crosses, cutbacks, movement – everything we’ve worked on. I’m sure that all the parents would agree that we have made great progress as a team so far this season.

We’ve now played against every single team and had just the one loss in nine games. The second half of the season will show us how far (or not far) we’ve come. Our goal from now on is to play better the second time around against every single team than we did in the first games. This won’t be easy but I’m sure that we can do it.

Finally boys, remember, whatever the referee says is correct, even if it actually isn’t (have a good think about that one). Still, I have to give Loris credit for that great free kick. Although it didn’t count on the scoreboard, you’re still allowed to tell your friends about it at school ;) Keep it up boys.

I’ll see you all on Monday.

GO CROCS!

June 18 V Sandy

Hi all,

Congratulations on the win today. We were easily the better team in a convincing 7-3 win against Sandringham. It’s always good to get a win over our rivals.

Today, I finally saw the same effort in the both halves. However, the effort was not good enough. Some very nice stuff from all the players, some very nice passing here and there, but in general, the intensity wasn’t high enough. Remember boys, THERE IS NO SCORE! We play the same at 5-0 or 10-0 as we would at 1-0 – passing and moving. Very happy with the win today, but as I’ve told you many, many times before : “It’s not about winning, it’s about how you play. If we play well, winning will come along with that”.

Today’s standout player was Loris with six goals! Was also happy with Ben’s performance in both defense and goalkeeper, especially when he put his body on the line to save what looked to be a definite goal for Sandringham.

So boys, what do we take away from the game?

1.         We need to play the same way all the time, no matter what the score is

2.         We must keep up the intensity for the entire match

3.         We need to pass and MOVE, not pass and stand!

Let’s see improvements next week at home against Sandy, again.

GO CROCS!

June 11 V Hampton

Hi all,

What a good performance today! I told you boys that passing will pay off slowly. Unfortunately we were without substitutes today but we made up for that by working together as a unit.

Hampton had some very good players but the difference between us and them was that we combined our talent together, while they relied on individual skill. Having said that, for the third week in a row it was a game of two halves (3-0 at half time, 4-2 at full time), however, this time I will pretend that the second half never happened and we’ll blame it all on being tired because of no substitutions. So, how do we make sure that we aren’t tired next time that we have no substitutes? The answer is fitness. How do we work on our fitness? COFFINS! Haha just kidding, but on a serious note, boys, I always speak about setting ourselves goals and challenges. Our next goal is to focus on performing well for the entire game and not just one half! Let’s see if we can do that.

Again, it was difficult to choose a man of the match because in the first half we all contributed equally, but I must say that I was extra pleased with Isaak’s effort as goalkeeper and also Tommy’s linking play between the defenders and strikers. A mention also goes out to Loris who played the entire game with an injury.  Keep up the good work and let’s make sure we all come to training this week because we can only get better as a team if we train as a team!

June 04 V Glen Eira

Hi all,

Another entertaining game just as always. Well done today boys! Yes, unfortunately, we didn’t get the result, however, we finally began to look like a team. I think we’d all agree in saying that although the match ended in a draw, 5-5, the boys showed that they can become a “champion team”, rather than a “team of champions”. There is a very big difference between the two.

Today’s game against Glen Eira was a reverse of the game last week. Again, it was a game of two halves, however, this time we showed our class in the second half after struggling in the first. At half time the score line read 3-2 in their favour, after we’d taken a two goal lead. It was very encouraging to see the boys choose to pass the ball along the ground in the second half, and not boot it down and hope for the best like the opposition was doing. This choice was rewarded within 10 seconds of the restart with Finn and Loris playing a brilliant one-two and a nice finish into the bottom corner, just like we’d practiced at training. We went on to score another 2 in a similar fashion. To be honest, I cannot even remember who scored the goals today because they were scored by the team as a whole, with the help of passes, moving and communication.

As for individual performances, I’d have to say it was difficult to judge because everyone lifted their intensity in the second half and played as a team. Having said that, a mention has to go out to Loris who today played for his team with perfect passes and cross left, right and centre. Boys, I want to see this sort of teamwork from everyone and If I do, you’ll never hear me scream out “coffin” again.

Finally, remember that it is not all about winning. Today’s second half was more pleasing than the 5-0 we had against Brighton a fortnight ago. Think about that. Let’s show Hampton what we’re made of next week.

GO CROCS!

May 28 V Bayside Knights

Hi boys, mums, dads and even grandparents,

Congratulations on another fantastic effort last Saturday. Everyone who was there would agree that it was a very intense, close encounter and if not for the crossbar and some bad luck, our boys would have defeated the Bayside Knights.

It was a game of two halves with the first half being controlled by Beaumaris and unfortunately in the second half the opposition lifted their game. Isaak’s great work put us up on two occasions at 1-0 and 2-1, however, no matter how much the boys huffed and puffed, they couldn’t get that vital third goal.  It was evident in the first half that the boys were starting to play for each other and not for themselves, which was very encouraging. We ended that half with a lead of 1-0, but as we all know, it’s the score at the final whistle that counts and unfortunately it resulted in our first loss, 3-2.

Special mention has to go out to Luis Perpina who pushed himself the entire game, giving 100%. Boys, we now have a goal to go and show the Bayside Knights who really is the better team when we play at their ground, but next time we’ll all have to give 100% the entire game and only relax when the final whistle blows. We will learn from this. Let’s recover from the loss with a big win next week.

GO CROCS!
