Optus Small Sided Football 2010

In the off-season the FFV has made many changes to the SSF format from U8 through to and including now U11. There are now only two age groups between U8 and U11 levels.

The first is U9, which comprise U8 (playing in a Joeys league with children aged 8 born in 2002) and U9 (playing in the Kangaroos League for children aged 9 born in 2001).

The second is U11, which comprises U10 (playing in a Joeys League for children aged 10 born in 2000) & U11 (playing in the Kangaroos League for children aged 11 born in 1999).

A further change is that all of our club teams play in the new South/East zone. The idea of rezoning is to make competition more local so you will find the fixturing will involve limited travel. Also the intent will be to keep children within their correct age group but children deemed exceptional by selectors will have an opportunity to play up if they would like.

The new formatting by the FFV sees us fielding teams in the following competitions:

U5 & U6: Our Goal Kick is run internally on Saturdays by the club  between 9 and 10am (the same as last year)

U7: squads of 12 split into two teams of six that play 5 V 5 on Saturday mornings in our own Bayside Comp (the same as last year for children aged 7 born in 2003) playing on a 30m x 20m (approx) pitch, This is as same as last Year.

U8 & U9: The new structure sees us playing matches in the FFV comp on Saturday mornings with U8 playing as Joeys and U9’s playing as Kangaroos. Squads will be 9 players playing 7 v 7 (including goal keeper) on a 40m x 30m (approx) pitch, Note this will be Using a Plastic Goal, with Goal keepers.

U10 & U11. The new structure sees us playing in the FFV comp. U10 teams will be classed as Joeys and play on Saturday mornings whilst U11 will be classed as Kangaroos and play on Sunday mornings.  The squad sizes will be 11 players playing 9 v 9 (including goal keeper) on a 60m x 40m (approx) pitch. This group will also now have match result recorded and ladders kept of the teams performances during the year.

For further information about the new structure go to http://www.footballfedvic.com.au/content.aspx?file=7250|20500s and download the appropriate handbook for each age group.
